Matt was born and raised in Maryland, then moved to Texas for his first job after graduating college.  Once there, he married the first Texas woman to give him true Texas BBQ, which in turn gave him his favorite past times: spending time with his wife and 3 kids, and smoking meat!

Matt is a Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) with NFPA and working towards earning his professional license as a fire protection engineer.  He attends local SFPE meetings and enjoys networking with all people of the fire protection community.

Matt graduated from The University of Maryland with both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degree in Fire Protection Engineering.  His 12+ years’ experience in the FPE field includes the following: leading & developing a team of fire protection engineers/consultants on various fire protection conditions and topics, creating & maintaining fire protection content & presentations, extensive knowledge of listed firestop systems and performing firestop engineering judgments, conducting performance-based assessments including fire/smoke modeling and timed-egress analyses, designing fire alarm systems, reviewing fire sprinkler system and fire alarm system shop drawings for conformance to codes and standards, and preparing code and life safety evaluations for new and existing buildings.
